PhD Student

I am a PhD student; my project is to investigate the impacts of rainfall on Diamondback moth (DBM) eggs and neonates on two different host plants (common cabbage and Chinese cabbage). I have investigated the DBM-host interactions which affect the impacts of rainfall on eggs and on subsequent instars of DBM.

The outputs of this project will be useful in the detailed interpretation of life-table studies of DBM and in understanding the host plant traits that might contribute to resistance against DBM.

Finally, as the expected results will also be useful in better understanding the specific effects of rainfall on different stages of DBM it will inform strategies-based use of sprinkler irrigation for DBM management, allowing them to be optimized.
